weekly updated blog for Oi! – punk – ska – reggae
Brazil is one of the scenes i know very little about. São Paulo’s Blind Pigs celibrates their twenty years of existence but to me they are completely new and this single is my first introduction to the band.
The band can be compared with the likes of Forgotton Rebels, The Clash or the Streets Dogs. Probably because of the South-American connection they also remind me to The Argies from – of course – Argentina.
Sentinela dos Mares on the A-side is short, intense and powerful and comes close to the above mentioned bands. União on the flipside has a different approach and reminds me of the punkier songs Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly wrote.
This single was released by the San Francisco based Pirates Press Records and as it befits Pirates Press the single comes in a nice red/silver printed jacket on red-white-striped vinyl.
